ALL DAY FRIDAY- KIDS DAY
Native Nations Dance Theater will present its 5th Annual powwow at the Rotunda in Philadelphia, PA on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.  Located at 4014 Walnut Street.  The event is also co-sponsored by The Rotunda.  Performances on Oct 17 will be presented for school children. The Powwow and Children's Festival will feature dance demonstrations and children's activities.  The children will learn and participate in Native American Indian dances such as the round dance and the snake dance.   These special children's performances are 45 minutes in length.

Admission: $5 per student

The First Rotunda Powwow in 2004
The powwow also continued on June 5th.  About 30 Native American dancers came from Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Washington, DC and Florida.  Native Nations represented were:  Cherokee, Chitamacha, Blackfeet, Seminole, Creek, Tuscarora, Lenni Lenape, Nanticoke, Lumbee, Lakota, Six Nations, Carib,Pueblo, Apache, South American and Aztec to name a few.  Black Horse Butte was the host drum and Delwin Fiddler Jr. was the MC.  Mark Bunting (Creek) and Steve Conoway from the Nanticoke Nation demostrated Hoop dancing.  Native American vendors were present to sell their goods.  NNDT provided the food and served: Buffalo chili, fry bread, corn soup, buffalo burgers and much more!!!!
A beautiful ceremony was conducted and Brittaney Burnett was crowned Princess Native Nations by Toni Seaflower.  Brittaney was escourted by Andrew Lyn Jr. Head Man dancer.  Her family was present for the ceremony as she was presented to the community as the first Miss Native Nations.  Brittaney was selected because of her dedicated service to the company.  Native American & performing artists presented a free concert on Friday & Saturday evening.  Artist included were Namorah Byrd- Singer, Stephen Katriel Wise  singer-percussionist-composer (producer of lakota Son CD, David Hughes- Singer, Whip Schappell- Flute Player, Paradox -Spoken Word, KC-Rapper, and the feature performer was Lakota Son- Spoken Word artist from Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Eagle Butte, SD.
